Today was the kick off rally for my Team in Training project to become an "endurance athlete" and run the Nike Women's Half Marathon in October. There were about 300 people from the Greater Los Angeles area, all of whom will either be training for a run/walk a marathon (or half), a triathlon, a century race or an Iron Man.
We were introduced to our coaches and mentors. I can't remember the name of our coaches and my
mentor wasn't there, but next week when the formal training starts, we'll be meeting everyone. We also received our training singlets and water bottles. Whoohoo!
Lots of inspirational stories from cancer patients and survivors, as well as motivation by some very, very successful fundraisers from the Spring training. The bar is set very high! (I hope you'll help me, help cancer patients and get a tax deduction!)
My running buddies -- Jan, John and Erica -- joined me at the event and we're ready to roll next week in Santa Monica!

Hello Denise
I am so proud of you. You are so strong to become an athlete and a skinny diva along the way ! My Dad is touched that you have included his name. Michael is so taken back by his inclusion as well. The lymphoma society has been a wealth of information for us, and we continue to support their efforts along the way. We wish you the best of luck in your training. You are a beautiful, wonderful friend. Love you, Lynne and Michael
