I haven't posted about my training for a few weeks. Trust me, it continues. Some days are better than others. My longest run was nearly 12 miles and took me 2 hours 40 minutes. We're in the tapering phase now, to maintain our endurance and ensure our bodies have the resources to do the big event on October 21.
So the marathon is draws near, but our fundraising deadline is even closer...October 5...Friday.
Will you help me exceed my $4,000 goal by Friday? I need at least $300.Here's the deal.
I'm running in honor of my brother-in-law Michael Knowlton. Michael has a rare form of lymphoma. Waldenstrom's Disease is treatable but not curable at this time, and only about 1500 people in North America are known to be suffering from it.
It's Michael's birthday on Monday, October 1. Wouldn't it be a great birthday gift to make a contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?
It takes $100,000 to fund one research grant. The team I'm part of has a goal to raise $300,000. I don't know exactly where we are, but I know we haven't made it yet. Whether it's $5, $50 or $500, every single dollar helps to help those with deadly blood cancers. Today, a woman at my gym handed me a five dollar bill when she heard me talking about my training. I almost cried.
Please, make a contribution for the people in your life who are suffering or who have suffered from cancer. Do it to help people like Michael who can benefit from vital research that needs to be done to find better treatments and cures. Do it as a birthday present for Michael and send him your love and good wishes while you're at it.
Donate here (tax deductible; the site is secure).
Many thanks.

I donated in the very beginning of your quest. I have watched you progress into a serious and proficient runner. I happily and joyously make a second donation. This is such a great cause. May we find a cure for cancer in our lifetimes.
Love, Hali
