For a serious athlete-type runner, 400 miles in a year isn't much, but for me, it's huge! I was logging the info from my run this morning and realized in the 12 months I've owned my Garmin Forerunner (tracks my pace, distance, elevation), I have logged 400+ miles.
Not every run was logged since I forgot to wear it a couple of times (like on my 4 mi run/hike this past week), and I was recovering from injuries for a couple of months and was walking more than running.
For an amateur runner, I'm happy with the number.
My first run with the Garmin was 2.19 miles on 3/7/08. Today I did 8.68 run/hike along the L.A. River and then up a lot of hills in Griffith Park. It was supposed to be a short cut that proved to be much longer and steeper than anticipated!
So, over the course of 55 weeks, I've averaged 7.27 miles per week.
